As I pondered about the recent death of Michael Jackson I thought most of us have some type of connection with him in some form or fashion. Therefore, here’s a post for all of us to consider.
The first album (record) I bought was “Bad” by Michael Jackson when I was 10 years old. I loved his music in the ’80s and songs like “Man in the Mirror” truly inspired me to look deeper inside and “make that change” within myself before putting blame on others.
Later on, his song “Black or White” reminded me of Nephi in the Book of Mormon and how he says God invites “all men to partake of his goodnes whether black, white, bond or free” (2 Nephi 26:33).
As time went on and as I grew up and we all watched Michael Jackson suffer my heart went out to him as he wrote songs like “Have you Seen my Childhood” and the media had a feeding frenzy on him due to his antics and erratic behavior.
Today when my mother (a born again Christian) told me about his death and how she thought he had converted to Islam she told me she wasn’t sure if he was “saved”. Although our concept of Heaven and Hell is slightly different, we both agreed that God would give each person a fair chance of salvation.
When looking at Michael Jackson’s life one of the greatest lessons I personally have learned is the truth of Jesus’ words of how blessed the person is who puts the kingdom of God first and trusts in Him rather than the arm of flesh.
Michael Jackson at one point had it all: fortune, fame, basically everything the world can offer. Yet he still was searching and suffering his whole life and died with millions of dollars of debt.
I am once again reminded on how human we all are and that all we have is a gift from God. We need to rely on the Lord through our good and bad times and remain grateful for every blessing he gives us. For as King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon says we rely on God for even our breath we breathe. One day we’ll breathe our last breath and stand accountable to God for who we are and what we’ve done.
My heart not only goes out to Michael Jackson and his family, but to all people who suffer their whole lives without having felt of the love and freedom of being born a new creature in Christ.

I beg to differ, but if Michael turned to Islamic you should know that the god they worship is not the same God that a true Christian worships, and yet even the god that you as a mormom worship is not the God of the bible as we Christians know. The true God, father of Abraham says that the only way to be saved is by believing that His ONLY(not a brother of lucifer)begotten son died for our sins. We must be born again before we died because after death you cannot find salvation, nowhere in the bible does it talk about purgatory or people being baptized for the dead. Please read you New King James Bible and study it while you are still alive and remember that God is a just God and will judge accordingly. Read about what Paul wrote that if anyone comes to you with another gospel, I could tell you his words but if you read it I think you will understand it better.

Please just try not to be a judge lest you be judged. what that blogger says is that God is a fair God! not the god you are talking about and yes baptisms for the dead is biblical. Read the original King James version 1 cor 15:29. That blogger is passing across some profound issues that one would do well to ponder its not abt difference of faith its about life and what one can do to live well and die assured of eternal life. Its a very simple issue. Who mentioned brother of Lucifer? I think of MJ and I find reason to examine my life not bash other people’s faith. Every one of us will be accountable individually.

Dear eve, I am not trying to bash any ones faith, I am merely trying to help other see the truth. I read and know my bible, this is how I came to the truth. People of all religions believe that their religion is the ONE because this is all they have been taught and it is not until they search for the truth that they will find it. It is our mission as followers of Christ to try and preach the gospel to the lost. And as far as lucifer, I was when I attended the mormon church years ago I was taught that lucifer and Jesus were brothers in another world but that did not seem right to me so I searched the bible for answer and wala I found the truth.

Tina,
Thanks for stopping by. Actually, it does talk about a different concept of Hell if you read the original Greek version of the bible. It wasn’t until the reformation that the current Christian version of Heaven and Hell came about.
I’ll probably write my next post on the original concept of heaven and Hell in the Greek version of the bible.

How about this…we are all one…and we all go back were we came from. How about finally understanding that all Religons are one…how about seeing the bigger picture and not getting the ¨truth ¨just from just one book.
How about stopping feeling sorry for the people who dont believe in your Lord..because it reaks of arrogance.

It is people like you who are full of manure, if all religions were the same there would be universal agreement and no religious wars. Just because you do not have the truth dwelling in you does not mean that there is no such thing as true religion. We do not all worship the same God!!! A made up god like the hindu, buddist or any other like these are not the same God as our creator. There is only one creator, He has always been, is and will be. Arrogance comes from those who wish this earth was lala land, we have no one to answer to because we can make up a god to suit our needs, that we just came to existence from a big bang and that when we die we exist no more. Reality check! There is a God, through Him ALL things were made and nothing exist without Him. Sorry to bust your little bubble but I am getting tire of Christianphobics!!!!

Tina,
wow! all i can say is wow…if you are trying to spread the love of Christ I suggest you use different words than “manure” and bashing other religions. I suggest as a start look to the good that others’ and their religions offer and build on that. Don’t focus on the differences. The Holy Spirit will teach all truth. It is our job to be forgiving, loving, not condeming and condenscending. Love people and let God do the rest.

dear ama49, How can you sit back and say “wow” people now a days are too afraid to speak up and be BOLD, manure is not a bad word it is just a nice way of saying that your theology really stinks. Yes there is good in other in people and maybe their practices are nice but this does not get people into heaven. So you mean to tell me that if Jesus was here on the internet in this day and age being BOLD the same way he was back then you would tell Him the same? Christ was very bold and straight forward and I believe that He set the example for us to follow. If Christ focused on their differences why can’t we? Why can’t we proclaim the truth like He did? So if you believe that we should’t warn people about their false gods and the consequences then I am safe to assume that you believe that Jesus was also wrong and that He should just have sat back be forgiving, loving, not condemning and not focused on their religious differences and all the good their religions offer. “WOW” all I can say is “WOW”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see that you are a very strong believer in your religion and are not willing to step out in faith and talk about the truth because you have been taught not to read the bible alone but to apply the teachings of Joseph Smith and his “another testaments” which were all inspired by him not Christ. Well, I will abide by your wishes but I will pray that you will not gamble will your salvation. Please read and STUDY the bible. Hey!! Tina … we shouldn’t be hearing tones of aggression. Our Heavenly father loves us all together. He is never gonna Judge us by our sect or church doctrine but how we approached His truth with sincerity.
I don’t know about the Book of Mormon and I hear a lot of bad stuff about them but I will never judge them. We all we be saved if we believe in the ONLY WAY, THE ONLY TRUTH AND THE ONLY LIFE that came down from the Father. None has been there to really tell as much as the one who came from there and in HIM I BELIEVE.
Only I advice I will give to all, let no man be responsible for your believe as much as YOU. Study to show yourself approve and responsible for you faith to God.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for stopping by and I completly agree with your comment about how God loves us as we sincerley approach Him. You’re absolutely right in that there shouldn’t be tones of aggression from anyone regarding anothers’ beliefs…especially when they are about love, peace, and truth, all of which come from one source: God.
Thank you for stopping by and feel free to comment anytime.
To Tina: you would do well to read and digest what Michael (a non-Mormon) just wrote. The purpose of this site is to promote one-ness in faith and love and one can do this regardless of religious differences.

Hi,
I enjoyed reading your post about Michael Jackson. I felt mixed when I heard of his passing, but mostly I felt sad for him. It seems like he has become a joke to most people, but I wonder if I could sit down and talk with him what that would be like. I feel like I’d find a person that is just like any other human with feelings, hopes and dreams and fears and insecurities…I just feel bad that he didn’t seem to know who he was, and how public that was for all to see and make a mockery of. I too remember listening to some of those old songs for the first time (“Man in the mirror”) and feeling inspired to be a better person and work harder in life. I’m glad to have the gospel, to know who I am and understand how to be happy in this life.
Thanks for sharing.
Holly
FOR TINA:
Your comments are kind of funny to me. How can you possibly say that you know the god of one people is not the god of another? God is known by many different names, but He is still the same omnipotent being who created us all. Those who believe he is the father of their souls and the great creator of this world have a good idea about who he is, even you think your beliefs are different from the beliefs of others. It also sounds like you’ve been reading some anti-mormon stuff, which is always misleading and/or completely false. I’m glad you visit this website as well to learn about The Church of Jesus Christ from someone who is a member and can tell you what we actually believe.
You should also check out 1st Corinthians 15:29 “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? Why are they then baptized for the dead?” This is a small section pulled out of the chapter. It is explaining that the dead do rise, and that there is salvation for the dead…It also illustrates that the Bible speaks about baptism for the dead, contrary to what you thought.

“The true God, father of Abraham says that the only way to be saved is by believing that His ONLY(not a brother of lucifer)begotten son died for our sins.”
We mormons also believe that Christ was the “only begotten son” of the Father here on this earth. What makes us different is that we believe in a pre-mortal life which was believed by Abraham and all other prophets and apostles/disciples of the Bible.

holly-kelley; No I have not been reading anti-mormom stuff, I’ve been reading the bible. In Cor. 15:29 Paul is talking about how people believe in the resurrection and were baptizing for those who died without being baptized possibly believing that if you died before baptized you would not enter heaven, Paul doesn’t really emphasize on this because it not relevant to salvation. We must obtain salvation while alive while having the knowledge of making a choice. if you want to take this verse out of context then you might as well pluck out your eye or cut off your hand. There are certain things in the bible that are mention to give you under- standing of the Jesus point. I was raised Catholic but as I got older I began to study the bible and it showed me the truth. and for katja, no my God is not everyone’s God, it is people like you who have no clue what they are talking about that make comments like these. If everyone had the same god there would be no need people to feel any guilt or remorse toward anything bad that we do, there would be no need to hold anyone accountable for anything. Think about it, did someone really just make it all up? There is so much evidence that confirms what the bible proclaims and yet people deny it because they don’t want to be accountable to anyone. Man made gods no matter well known they are or how small are still man made, and yes even the claims that man will take his own planet and be the god of that planet is not bliblical, there is only one creator(not many) and we were created to worship him from now to eternity. If we could all be gods, lucifer would not have been thrown out of heaven and the battle that is going on right now for our souls would not be happening, God would just have given him his own world to rule and so on. Please read the bible and study it on your own, don’t be some puppet on a string and believe what you are told to believe. There is no other gospels in addition to the one that God gave us read Galations 1:1-10

Gideon, how I wish that more people would truly study God word and not sit back and be spoon fed, like I said growing up ma catholic I never thought it being wrong to pray to all their saints but reading the bible on my own and even making sure that what the pastor was teaching in church was the truth by reading it my self the Lord has really help me in understanding His word. Gods word is meant to be a mystery it is meant to be an open book for us to read as He has inspired it to be written although man always seem to try and find their own meaning to suit their sinful lives. We are at war with the devil for lost souls and yet some people say “let them believe what they want to believe”. Are we not here to preach the gospel as we were commanded by Christ, do we not care about their eternity? I care because my heart saddens for those who are lost. They also say that if we live unbelievers alone the world would be a better place, well, maybe for a while, but reality is that heaven and hell exist and if a person is lost we need to at least give them a chance to be able to accept Christ, remember Christ is like a doctor, he came for those who need healing of their sins. If you went to a doctor and he found out through test that you had cancer would it be o.k. for him to withhold the info just to keep you from worrying at this time, NO, a good doctor who cares will tell you the truth so can attack the sickness immediately and not just watch it it you up. Well this is the same, if if do not present the gospel to those with no faith we are just sitting back and letting their souls slowing fade into darkness. This is very sad. I cant wait my self when one day I to will be standing before God and worshiping him forever, Like that song by MERCY ME “I Can Only Imagine” God bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holly-kelly & Joe- Did I forget to mention that the reason why I know somethings about mormons is because I did attend a mormon church for awhile. Let me tell you that the first person that they introduced to me (in a picture of course)was Joseph Smith. Sure they talked about Jesus at times but the main emphasis was on Joseph Smith, this is when I began doing research on him and found a lot of disturbing facts. My faith has led me to the truth, not because I sit back and let others tell me what to believe, but because I read and study the word of God. My eternity is way to important for to to trust it to anyone else but HIM, the great I AM. And while you believe that your god came to earth and had sexual intercourse in totally contrary to His word, if this would have been the case Jesus then would not have been sinless. You say that you believe that Jesus was the Only begotten Son of God on earth because you believe in a pre-mortal life which was believed by Abraham, well, this is not so. When the bible talks about God knowing us before we existed on earth it is because God knows everything(what was, is, and is to come)He has no limits and if you try and put limits on Him then you clearly are not talking about the ALMIGHTY GOD.

It is sad that you are judging a man by what you “think” you know about him rather than his actions.
Michael was not a person who judged, but everyone judged him.
He did all he could to help the children, and people lied and said he molested them. (Which turned out to be false.)
His actions are very Jesus like, and you are no one to be saying who is saved and who is not and what you think the “right” religion is.
For the record, there is NO MENTION of religion in the Bible. (How convenient that you skipped over that.)
MJ had a personal relationship with God, which is his business and only his, not yours to answer to.
And he died $500 million in debt, but his assets are worth close to a billion.
Regardless, you shouldn’t be judging people based on what you read in tabloids. I’m surprised that you read gossip, isn’t that against the Bible?
Hmmmmm……

Hi Elidet,
Thanks for stopping by. From your comments it appears you haven’t read all the comments in this thread. There is one that has a link that goes to a description of MJ accepting Jesus.
Furthermore, I personally don’t believe MJ is going to hell or anything like that. You’re right. I don’t have a clue exactly what happened with him and I’m pretty sure you don’t either. You are also right. We’re not supposed to judge others…including you judging me.
Personally I feel everyone will get a fair chance to accept God in this life or the next so I’m not condemning MJ at all. We’ll all get rewarded for our good works and MJ definitely had a lot of good works as you mention.
Before you bristle up and get defensive, read through all the comments on the post and see the point I was really trying to make. Then come back and I’ll be happy to talk.

Hey everyone; the story that says michael got converted to islam was not confermed so why do we believe it in the first place just because it got reported? Michael jackson always believed in chirst and loved christ. He actually wanted to be like christ. Michael will never betray chirst for anything or anyone. What michael jackson loves the most in life is love, and he felt it through christ. Michael jackson said to ebony megazine interview that he believes in the bible and he always tries to follow the instruction of the bible. He also said in another interview that he loves children because jesus said so. I believe that child molestation and plastic surgery was an excuse for the world to justify hating michael jackson. However, the real reason that the world hated michael jackson is because he personified christ.

I have been doing a great deal of research about Michael Jackson and I came across this forum. I noticed the debate about what religion Michael was, etc…
I am not religious, but I thought you might like to hear Michael’s own words on the issue. He was deeply spiritual, but not particularly religious. Hope this clears some things up.
“It’s strange that God doesn’t mind expressing Himself/Herself in all the religions of the world, while people still cling to the notion that their way is the only right way. Whatever you try to say about God, someone will take offense, even if you say everyone’s love of God is right for them.
For me the form God takes is not the most important thing. What’s most important is the essence. My songs and dances are outlines for Him to come and fill. I hold out the form. She puts in the sweetness.
I’ve looked up at the night sky and beheld the stars so intimately close, it was as if my grandmother had made them for me. “How rich, how sumptuous,” I thought.
In that moment I saw God in His creation. I could as easily have seen Her in the beauty of a rainbow, the grace of a deer bounding through a meadow, the truth of a father’s kiss. But for me the sweetest contact with God has no form. I close my eyes, look within, and enter a deep soft silence. The infinity of God’s creation embraces me. We are one.”

Hey….
Have you all ever heard this nice parable about God….?
The story start from that everyone of us is born Blind….
and one day, someone want to know about the color, since he also blind since he was born, he doesn’t know what green color is like…
so he ask to “one man” that is already regain his vision….
“Sir, can you describe me about Green Color?”
and the man reply “Oh, Green is like beautiful sound of music…”
So the blind man feels happy cause finally he knows what green is like. He go to his hometown of blind people to tell the whole town about what he knows….
The next day, another blind man ask to this “one man” who can see…. “Sir, can you explain to me about green color?”
this time the man reply “Green is like the morning wind blows softly to your skin…”
the second blind man feels great cause now he has knowledge about the green color and he goes home telling his family about this.
one day their blind children is fighting, both side is defending their believe about Green Color and they both accused that the other side have it all wrong….
they fight to the death and kill many people along the way to spread their believe because they think they can save humanity and many lives by telling other what they thought is the truth…
heh heh….. funny isn’t it…?
Nobody can tell you what Green Color (truth) is….
You must see it for yourself…. cause there are no human words can contain it…..

That’s an interesting observation.
I’m not religious, but I found that there are some spiritual truths embedded deeply in Michael’s songs. When you first hear them, they might strike you as naiive. But in fact, they are pretty much the same things as what spiritual teachers like the Buddha teach… or like today’s Eckhart Tolle or Byron Katie.
I’ve put together some examples in my blog from Michael’s song “Heal the World”.
Here’s one example:
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space
Make a better place…
Tolle differenciates “space” from “content”: Every content in the real world — things, relationships, the weather — arises within space. Most people only see the content. And, what’s worse, they tie their happiness to specific content. This inevitably leads to a sense of unfulfillment, because content is bound to dissolve. Content always comes and goes — and the only thing static in the entire universe is the space in which content arises. Becoming aware of space, according to Tolle, is therefore the only path to fulfillment.
Michael might not have been a “spiritual teacher”, but deep inside he must have been very evolved and enlightened.
Maybe that is why so many people saw him as “strange” or “childish”…

Judge Ye Not!
I really and truly wish that people would stop debating about Michael’s salvation and worry about their own. No, he was not perfect as none of us are, but he tried to do as Jesus said and live the best he could with the circumstances in his life. He was loving, kind and did his best to change the world. I am not saying that he was Christ but some things that happened to him in life, being mistreated, called names and being lied on are similar. I was a Christian for many years, devoted and sold out, but the things that happened to me in church have now crushed my faith and hurt me badly. People can be hurt and fall in the world and it can happen in the church, the place where we are supposed to get our strength and guidance for this spiritual walk. The church has become so consumed on building, prosperity, worshiping the Pastor and trying to become the next big mega church on the block that they have forgotten their true mission which is to care for soul. My soul has been wounded at hands of others. I am not sure if I will ever get it back. Michael was wounded and now that he’s dead, people scurry around the body judgingly trying to debate about where he is or how bad or strange he was. He needed love, He needed support. Where are those who claim to know the truth prayers when he was alive? You were too busy reading the tabloids about him and judging, that’s what!! Oh church wake up! While you are sitting around trying to place people in heaven or hell, they are dying broken and miserable. Who do you think that God will hold accountable for that? Don’t get comfortable or uplifted because you are saved and on your way to heaven. You may be surprised later that you are really not when he says depart me from you workers of iniquity, I never knew you. Then what will you say? I hate these judgmental attitudes of some many Christians! I don’t want to be around you anymore! Michael did more to help save people with his giving than you ever will with your bible! You are so heavenly bound that you have become no earthly good to anyone saved or not! Souls are dying and falling away and no really cares about it anymore. Something to think about before you judge someone to hell that you don’t even know again.

Judge Ye Not,
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and even painful experiences with the church.
No church is perfect and especially the people within the churches aren’t perfect.
They are judging you, which is sinful. Yet, you are only hurting yourself by holding the pain inside towards them.
This is what Jesus’ atonement is all about. He died so we can repent and also forgive those who sin against us.
I pray that the Lord touches your soul this Easter season and that your pain you feel and hurt towards those who have offended you will leave and be replaced with love and understanding.
