Our little 6 year old daughter came home after church a few weeks ago and asked my wife why she was crying while the Primary was singing the song “Gethsemane”. She said she felt good inside but also felt like crying.
As a father, I was so glad to hear this. We spend so much time praying for her and trying to teach her how to strengthen her relationship with God and know Him through prayer and scripture study, church attendance, serving others, etc. She has often asked me how she can understand if God is speaking to her so it was a perfect teaching opportunity to share with her that He speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, which speaks to our spirits through feelings such as she experienced during the song.
I’ve included a very good video that has the song to help us as we each take time this weekend to reflect on the gift of the atonement that Jesus gave us.
Have a blessed and happy Easter!

I appreciate this website. I love all the messages, especially the one for this month.
Speaking of Eastertime, a few years ago, my wife and I were teaching the gospel to an Assembly of God minister. It wasn’t long before he was baptized into the LDS Church. It cost him his job. But he was elderly and would have retired soon anyway.
I recall sitting next to him in sacrament meeting. I will never forget how reverently he partook of the emblems of the sacrament. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice that he took the cup of water with both hands. When he finished, he wiped his eyes. By contrast, it was sobering to think of how casually I partook of the emblems.

Allen. Thank you for stopping by. That is a very important example to share. President Uchtdorf talked about not being too casual with our relationship to God and the ordinances, etc yesterday in conference. I appreciate your insight that lines up with what Uchtdorf said.

Great! His love for us is so great. How sad that so many miss out on his love because they want to run their own lives.

Hi Cal. I think that we all miss out to one extend or another. At least I know I do and have to be constantly reminded to remember Him.

Yes, graceforgrace. We all see through a glass darkly (1 Cor. 13).
Helen and I will be going on a road trip with our precious little Shih Tzu dog to N. Dakota and the Black Hills of S. Dakota this summer. We’ll be closer to your neck of the woods but still a long ways from it!
