I received the following from one of my old friends today:
I truly believe in the power of Prayer or otherwise I wouldn’t be posting this…. Our sweet, beautiful little angel Ashlynn is very seriously ill, we just found out today that she may have liver failure and we will be heading up to stay with her at a London Hospital to figure out what to do for her. We are completely shocked and horrified over this news. All I ask is that everyone would please say a prayer for our beautiful, beautiful baby girl, we would be forever grateful.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his daughter. They had to try and try to get pregnant and bring her into the world and she’s only a few months old. Please join me in praying for the little baby and his family. Their last name is Beutler, if you want to say a specific prayer for them.

I am praying. I am adding my faith to that of the parents. Jesus took our sicknesses and carried our diseases (Matthew 8:17, which is a quote of Isaiah 53:4)! Please keep us posted!

By the way, here’s an update for you:
Today Ashlynn had tons of bloodwork drawn and tomorrow she goes in for a biopsy of her liver. The specialists are thinking that she may have a rare condition called “Billiary Atresia”, but we will find out more on Friday after the biopsy. If she has this condition she will need to have liver surgery. They will attach her small bowel to her liver to get the bile moving. She has a good chance that this surgery will go well. The amazing thing about today is that the specialists told us that we came to one of the best Hospitals in the World for this surgery! Most other hospitals do not even offer this surgery! Tell me that Heavenly Father is not watching out for our beautiful little angel:)

Hi Cal,
Here’s an update. Not the best news, but something to keep praying for to help them. Thank you (and anyone else who is praying) for your help.
Here’s an update from the mother:
“Soooo….. we just a call from the Doctor, she definitely has “Biliary Atresia”.
This means that our poor little Ashlynn will be having surgery next week (not sure what date they will call us tonight or monday).
This surgery is a very intense surgery, it is 6 hours long and she will have a scar from one end to the other side of her abdomen. When they go in to fix her, they are going to look and see if she is too far gone to even have the surgery.
If that’s the case then she will for sure have a liver transplant.
…
They said that she is a little old for this surgery to work the best (should be around 8 weeks old and she is 14 weeks). So that means that her chances of the surgery working are not as high as a younger baby and if it doesn’t work she will need a transplant.
We will be in the London Hospital for a week and Gray will be back at a friends.
I guess I am pretty down right now, I was just really hoping that it would be something smaller, not a huge surgery, I’m soo worried that her liver is too far gone and the surgery won’t work. I’m really worried about her having the surgery in general (she’s soo little)- anasthesia scares me.
I think reality has really hit (I guess I just prayed that it wouldn’t be such a major thing). But, I know we have felt peace, that all the ton’s of prayers, fast’s, putting her name in temple have really given us such peace and comfort.
Please keep praying that this surgery will work perfectly and that everything will go smoothly for her!!! Thank you so much!”
I’ll keep you posted as I receive updates.

My last comment sounds as if I expected her to die last week—not an expression of trust that God was answering our prayers!
What I meant was, “How did she do?”

Hi Cal,
Thanks for checking in again. I just received news from Ashlynn’s parents that she’s doing well. Here’s the note from her mom:
“Ashlynn is doing really good!!! 🙂 she is eating an almost normal amount of milk, fever’s gone down, everything is healing up nicely-yay!!! The only huge bummer is that the liquid leaking from her liver hasn’t slowed down enough (not a big concern) but it does hinder us from leaving yet, and they have now added on 2 days:( hopefully we will be coming home on Friday or Saturday (making that 11- 12 days we have been in this darn hospital) no fun!!! But, I am soooo grateful she is doing so good and I am extremely thankful for all the prayers and love”
Thank you for your prayers. I have a lot of friends lately who are dealing with struggles with their kids and you are a very kind hearted person to pray for people you don’t even know! Thanks!
