My wife found a pretty cool map on the LDS.org website. It has a satellite view of all the churches in the world.
This link shows all the LDS churches in North America.
So if you’re traveling and need to drop by a meeting, you can find one anywhere…even in Barrow, Alaksa!

Neat-OH. There’s even one in Nome, Alaska.
Maybe I’ll drop in to see them next Sunday.
Seriously, I did visit the one in Ascutney, VT, a couple weeks ago and the lesson was very good. They went through John chapter 3 line by line.

Hi Cal,
That’s cool you went to the one in VT. Nome Alaska is next on the list, right? : )
Had you ever been to an LDS church before?

Yes, more than 30 times. (I lost count when I got to 30! It’s not that I can’t count higher than that!) : )

Thanks for the heads up. BTW, satellite is misspelled in the title of your post.

With the growth of the LDS church all over the country and world-what are your thoughts about the growing political influence members of the church are having in our country-many are calling this the “Mormon Moment” and many of us evangelicals have been left in the dust! People in my church quote Mr. Beck as though he is God Almighty and my own son (a student at a Bible college) has a poster of Mitt hanging in his dorm-what do you guys think of all this?
I know about the politcal neutrality claimed by the church-but I’m not really buying it!

Hi Doug,
I just checked this comment after I had already posted my latest article that falls in line with your question.
I think that it is very good the evangelial crowd is “coming around” so to speak. We need to unite on principles. Sure there may be slight differences in doctrine, but I feel evangelicals and Mormons are largely on the same page.
I personally feel the church does a pretty good job of being politically neutral (with the exception of prop 8). They usually have an official statement that goes out in our services that reminds us of the politically neutral stance the church takes.
Although the church officially takes a neutral stance, I think the members of the church talk about things in their circles, but nothing is officially announced or discussed in church usually.

There’s lots I like say but short on time right now.
Doug, how do YOU feel about this “Mormon Moment”?
That’s amazing about your son’s poster!
I’m not sure who I’m going to vote for. I like Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, AND Mitt Romney. Maybe Mitt would be more apt to beat Obama—I don’t know.
By the way, I found out that you can create a dash (—) by typing three short dashes in a row.

If the “Mormon Moment” can help this country get back to policies that promote family values and civility in the public sector-power to them!
