For those of you who are interested in statistics, I thought this was intersting. It’s found on the LDS Newsroom website. I shows stats on how many members the church has, how many missionaries, how many members in each country, how many countries we’re doing humanitarian aid for, etc. Here’s the site:

That is interesting. However, what do you think the number of ACTIVE members is? I would wager it’s less than half, considering how there are now more world vs. U.S. members, and let’s get real, a majority of them are inactive. At least that was the trend in Germany when I was on my mission.

That’s kind of interesting, but it’s more PR than anything else. There isn’t even a date given…are these numbers current, as of the end of 2007, or what? Mostly these are the things you get in general conference every year. You could get much more from the “church almanac” (is that even still published?) I wish they would make some real data available to researchers, since I’m sure they have lots and lots of it.

I’m not sure what the average is churchwide as far as activity goes. In my current ward it’s about 67%, which I think is well above average. I’m sure if activity churchwide is 50% that’s probably being generous, but I don’t have any hard stats to back it up…do you? If so, It would be interesting…

I’m glad you asked about the way they measure the stats. I read somewhere on the church website that they are current numbers and by April the church is expected to have more than 13 million members.
