Here's a message sent by Thor Bostrom bout the church:

I agree with your friend about the building of a true disciple church. Because I am not quiet, I believe it is important to add to the second paragraph that not only teaching the commandments of Christ, but the commandments that are pertinent to us, individually. I may be commanded to provide in a certain way for my family. Another may receive other commandments. The key here is personal revelation. We are counseled in our day to have personal revelation of the Savior and are pass the time to rely on the testimonies of others, according to one of the General Conference talks a short, few years ago. That was interesting to me. I find it true that some use this church as a social block. Some use it as a source. It is a school to bring us to Christ. The church doesn’t “have” the priesthood. The organization of the priesthood administers the church. I am not saying that I can go out and carry out ordinances on my own. Rather the priesthood is in place to grant us license or keys under the direction of the prophet, who holds the keys on the earth at any time. So my license is restricted, if you will, under his direction (and the chain of authority between the prophet and me).

I have to be able to receive revelation to know of the truth of the gospel, of the testimonies and guidance of those in sheparding positions, and for my personal instruction from the Lord.

Sincerely,

Thor

Interesting post, aaron. I think I tend to ere on the side of dynamism. I think that there are some basic principles that will be found in God's Church through time, but that as societies and peoples change so does the Church. That is a bit hard to rectify with a God who is eternal and without change, but it is born of frank observation.

So what are those core principles that don't change? I'm not too certain, but I believe that God will always seek to maximize our relationship with him and our relationship with our families and peers.
